Style
7. Look and Feel
Hand Drawn - Many clients commission my design help because I have a signature hand drawn style. These original drawings are transposed to a digital format in which I manipulate them with color and text. The custom logo I created here for Mary Warren is a great example of a hand drawn design. This look often signifies youth and natural whimsy.
Modern - This sophisticated style suits my clients who are after a clean, contemporary new theme for their business. The modern logo I created for Lauren Elyce Photography is a perfect example of simple and elegant styling.
Classic - If you’ve been described as an “old soul,” perhaps a logo with a vintage look suits you. I characterize these designs with retro elements that showcase your timeless style. Sarah Klock of Light Fantastik Photography is inspired by turn-of-the-century imagery, so I created a design reminiscent of that era.
Visual Examples
8. Have you seen a logo, business card, blog, or other marketing that has really inspired you lately? Giving me a few visual examples in this section will help me define the look you love. Please make notes about your visual inspiration here...
(required)
I also encourage you to upload visual examples from online sources, scans you've saved, etc.
Imagery / Icon
9. Here's your opportunity to tell me what icon, symbol, or character you envision for your new logo.
Lucy Crafter of Apple Lane Studios owns a natural light child photography business in Australia. Using her inspirations; children, nature, and her studio's namesake (the apple), I created an icon that tells the story of her special work. What imagery or icon will tell your business's unique story? Please write your ideas below. You may also attach examples if you'd like.
Positive / Negative Space
10. The relationship between positive and negative space is an important part of every logo.
Positive Space - Notice how the logo I created for Captivating Photography dwells within a solid field (positve space) of color.
Negative Space - Now notice the difference here, in this logo for Kristen Honeycutt. Open (negative) space flows through the entire design.
Color
11. In this section, you'll tell me which palette you'd like me to work with. I can create a custom color theme for you. Please give me some ideas in the space below, for example; "warm colors", "sunshine yellow", "tangerine orange", etc.
or, list specific RGB color codes from your Photoshop palette in these spaces, for example; "ecd86a".
Font
12. Please attach a few fonts that you'd like me to use in your logo. Use the spaces below to upload a few favorites (.ttf and .otf are acceptable formats).
or, describe what type of fonts you like, for example; serif, san serif, script, etc.
Tell Me More
13. Finally, please share anything else that you think is important.
